What is Gestalt Therapy?

Let's take the journey together with support and compassion.

Gestalt Therapy is a powerful and holistic form of psychotherapy that focuses on what is happening for you in the present moment, emotionally, mentally, physically, and in your relationships. It’s an experiential approach to counselling that encourages greater self-awareness and supports you in understanding how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are connected.

Rather than dwelling solely on the past, Gestalt Therapy gently invites you to notice what’s unfolding right now: in your body, in your environment, and in how you relate to others. As a client, you are supported to explore your experiences with curiosity and compassion, helping you uncover long-held patterns, unfinished emotional processes, and areas where you may feel stuck.

Based here on the Sunshine Coast, I offer Gestalt Therapy as a deeply supportive and embodied approach to personal growth. This type of psychotherapy recognises the body as a vital part of the healing process. Your body holds memories, emotional experiences, and the impact of trauma. By tuning into physical sensations, posture, movement, and breath, we begin to access the body’s innate wisdom guiding you toward deeper insight, emotional release, and a more grounded way of being.

Gestalt Therapy is not just talk therapy. It’s a full-bodied, relational experience that brings lasting change through awareness, presence, and the therapeutic relationship.

Perhaps you’re feeling emotionally stuck repeating the same patterns in life, relationships, or work that no longer serve you. You might be experiencing anxiety, disconnection, or low motivation, or finding it hard to manage change. For some, these challenges become more noticeable during midlife, when long-standing fears or inner conflicts begin to surface more strongly.

Maybe you’ve tried counselling or therapy before, but still feel like something is missing. You’re not alone. Many people come to psychotherapy seeking not just insight, but a deeper, more embodied understanding of themselves.

In our counselling sessions together, we’ll take the time to explore your inner world, how you experience yourself, how you relate to others, and the beliefs and behaviours that shape your life.

This is a collaborative process, grounded in safety, curiosity, and care. Together, we’ll begin to shift what’s no longer working and create space for something new to emerge.

Therapy can be a powerful space to reconnect with yourself, your values, and the life you want to live. Through our work together, you may develop a stronger sense of self-awareness, emotional resilience, and clarity around your needs and boundaries.

As you become more connected to your thoughts, feelings, and body, you might notice old patterns starting to loosen.

Many clients find that relationships improve, stress becomes easier to manage, and emotions feel more manageable. Most importantly, therapy offers a space to be fully seen and supported as you navigate the complexities of being human.

Over time, counselling can help you build inner strength, self-trust, and a deeper sense of personal freedom. Whether you're on the Sunshine Coast or connecting online, this work can support real, lasting change and it often begins with a simple step: showing up for yourself.
